This integrative immersion and teacher training program is designed for all levels of practitioners and teachers. Though a background in Yin Yoga is helpful, it is not required. 

The program includes 45 contact hours and 5 non-contact hours for self-study. All students will receive a 50-hour Yin Yoga teacher training certificate upon completion of the program. The knowledge and experience gained through this training will enhance your personal practice and prepare you with the confidence and expertise to teach Yin Yoga.

In this training, you'll:

  1. Cultivate balance in your Yang (active) lifestyle and practices through the quiet power of Yin Yoga

  2. Learn the philosophy, anatomy and physiology of Yin Yoga practice from both Western and Chinese medical perspectives

  3. Learn the Primary Meridian and Muscle Channel pathways and their psycho-emotional & physical associations in relation to Yin Yoga

  4. Understand how to sequence a Yin Yoga practice for optimal health

  5. Integrate the Yin Yoga benefits of being and non-striving into your practice, teaching and life

  6. Learn how to prepare your body for Yin Yoga and allow it to prepare you for Meditation

  7. Develop skills for deeper awareness and self-cultivation.

Yin Yoga: Cultivating a Quiet Practice

For most of us, the nature of our work, exercise, and daily activities is very active, or Yang. As such, we live in a chronic state of stress. To balance, we must cultivate a sense of stillness, or Yin.

While Yang style practice activates the muscle tissue, Yin Yoga is designed to nourish the connective tissue, including the ligaments, tendons, and bones. By sitting or lying in gentle and supported postures for extended periods of time, we replenish the fluids in the connective tissue of the major joints, improving the flexibility and strength of the entire body and releasing withheld energy in the meridians. This allows us to let go in the body and mind and thus improve our circulation, energy, and overall health.  

This workshop will consist of lecture on meridian theory and application as well as a guided Yin Yoga Practice.

Internal Power Yoga

Modern forms of aerobic exercise and Yoga focus on intensive, repetitive movement to develop strength and stamina in the physical body. However, with the stress that they place on the body, these practices can over time lead to injury, exhaustion and mental-emotional restlessness.

Ancient forms of exercise including Daoist Yoga and the internal martial arts such as Tai Chi and Qi Gong instead use slow, gentle movements to enhance energy flow and develop strength in the internal body. The intention is to activate the subtle body to cultivate physical power and balance from the inside out. 

In this workshop, you’ll practice Classical Yoga to control the body’s energy or Qi through slow, intentional movements that will open the Meridians and Chakras and create a potent sense of balance in the body-mind. This subtle yet powerful form of practice will provide you with mental clarity, physical power as well as an awareness that will help you recover from stress and improve the quality of your life.

New Year, New Intentions: A Special New Year's Eve Yoga & Qi Gong Class

Cost: $25 on site. 100% of proceeds will go to the Chronicle Season of Sharing Fund, which focuses on providing local assistance to those facing a crisis, including housing assistance, critical family needs and food banks.
